Boys Noize Records added to its pile of accolades with the recently released album by Shadow Dancer, Golden Traxe. A standout track off this album was “Drivetime.” It’s syncopated percussion starts off the the pace, before arpeggiated vintage bass rolls pick up the momentum and the resulting charging rhythm breaks through the stratosphere into high dark matter. Up in the ozone, the brain is kept stimulated by counter and harmonic rippled melodies assisted by break downs every minute or so that could even be called choruses. Oscillated madness adds perfect tension just before swinging pops and snares bring it all back safely. It may not be a new sound, but nobody seems to be complaining about throwbacks. We were a little bit late on this one, but couldn’t overlook it. Are they named after the video game? Go grab “Drivetime” or the whole album.

The remixes of “Everyday Hustle” by Boston’s B.Rich seem to be getting all the internet love, but the original deserves it’s time in the spotlight too. Chopped up Rick Ross hooks over buzzsaw bass lines kicked around by a jackin’ beat all pulled together by a strong composition. It’ll keep you amped for sure. The EP dropped last week, so go grab that ish.
